Teaming up with Vietnamese browser provider Coc Coc

We are very excited to announce our new partnership with Coc Coc, one of the biggest local browsers and search engine companies in Vietnam, as well as the biggest Vietnamiese digital advertising publisher with more than 22 million users. In 2020, Coc Coc has grown to be the fourth mobile browser in Vietnam with 11.7 million installations on both iOS and Android.

What is the partnership between eyeo and Coc Coc all about?

With their latest update, Coc Coc has introduced Acceptable Ads, aiming at creating, within its browser, a sustainable middle ground between the user choice and monetization opportunities for publishers. Coc Coc is now adhering to criteria specially developed for and by ad-blocking users, and is providing Vietnamese users with respectful, nonintrusive, and relevant content, which in turn allows publishers to increase their revenue. Everyone wins.

This new feature has been installed by default on the Coc Coc browser. To experience it, users only need to update to the latest version of the browser on their device. Additionally, users can track the statistics and easily customize or turn on/ off the filter mode via the toolbar of Coc Coc. The “standard mode” filters out the intrusive ads, those which have an impact on user experience. This mode is applied by default. Switching to the “strict mode” would mean that most types of ads are being filtered.

eyeo brings its mission to Vietnam

Nguyen Vu Anh, the Deputy CEO of Coc Coc, speaking of this new browser feature, says: “Ensuring safety and optimizing the experience of Vietnamese internet users is always one of the foremost concerns of Coc Coc. By partnering with eyeo, the developer of Adblock Plus, a browser add-on and the first ad blocker to champion ad filtering as opposed to complete ad blocking, we hope to bring Vietnamese users the best content on a safe and optimal network”.

Till Faida, CEO at eyeo, says about the partnership: “Coc Coc’s ‘Viet Nam first’ focus has made it one of the most popular browsers in Vietnam and we are proud of this new partnership. At the same time, this new feature underscores how universal user attitudes are about ad filtering. In Viet Nam, as in our partnerships in other markets around the world, we see the same thing: users are reasonable and fair about the need to both reduce annoying, unproductive advertising while also supporting the publishers that make the web the rich experience it is.”

We at eyeo consider this an important step in bringing the footprint of our mission to Vietnam. We can now help in Vietnam to develop and sustain a fair and open web which puts users in control while providing publishers with user-friendly revenue options. We are looking forward to a long and fruitful cooperation with Coc Coc.
