Remote Control: Meet Our Remote Team
Meet the people who work at eyeo, but don’t necessarily work at eyeo. Take a sneak peek at their lives and what it means to be part of a company that allows you to work anywhere in the world. Today, meet Durrah, our monetization unit content marketer and copywriter.
Where in the world do you work?
In sunny and beautiful Lisbon, Portugal!
Tell us a little about your role at eyeo
I work in the monetization unit as a Content Marketer and Copywriter… which really means I plan, manage and write out content pieces, amongst other things . I also monitor searches on Google, so those searching for things related to Acceptable Ads can find the right answers, and us!
What does your workday look like?
I’m a snoozer, so it takes me a while to get up. But when I do, I get that first cup of coffee, then I get to my emails, go through my to-do list for the day (which I usually plan the day before) and get right on it. Then there’s all the remote meetings to get to…
What’s so great about working remotely? (If remote)
The flexibility and trust bestowed upon you. Oh and being in control of your work life balance. Being remote at eyeo actually means remote, not just ‘work from home’ or ‘work from anywhere within the country’. I love the flexibility of being able to choose where I live, where I work from and when I get to see my family on the other side of the globe.
Where is your favorite place to work?
At home. I tend to get distracted by other people around me… and I usually end up people watching when I’m outside. Has anyone figured out how to work outside without having to squint all the time? And how to deal with the reflections on the screen?
What do you do when you’re not working?
Before COVID, I traveled a lot! It was one big trip to somewhere far away every year (New Zealand was the last one), and many little trips every other month. I also picked up film photography a couple of years back so I try to capture what captures me when I get the chance. Back in university, I was part of the Salsa dancing society, and I loved social dancing on Fridays. I dream about picking it back up, but it probably requires (even more) hand sanitizer now… so I’m still a bit skeptical.
Hobbiton, Matamata, New Zealand
You’re travelling for work and can only take a backpack. What do you pack?
Hmm… my laptop, airpods, toothbrush, water bottle, a hat and sunscreen (if it’s somewhere sunny) or a jacket and sunscreen too (if it’s somewhere chilly… SPF is important folks!). And if I have some space, my film camera.

What job would you be terrible at?
So many! But sales, probably. I definitely can’t sell ice to a snowman (is that the saying?)
What’s one gadget you can’t live without?
Sad to report… but that’ll be my phone.
What’s your favourite app?
It used to be Duolingo but I lost my streak and I’m not over that. So it’s now ‘Galatea’. It’s a reading app with sound effects, visual effects, feedback, etc. Quite cool for the inner-teenager in me.
Include a short overview of why you joined and why you’ve stayed.
The opportunity to work at eyeo came at a time where I really needed a healthy change. I truly enjoy the work that I do, the opportunities given to me early on and the people that I work with… so that and the company culture (remote-first, people-first, importance on family and mental health, etc.) really encouraged me to stay.
