If working remotely isn’t for you, we also have a large office in Berlin and soon in NYC that you can choose to work from. What you'll do

The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of our financial records and in developing scalable and sustainable processes as the business grows. As the Senior Accountant you will be exposed to a variety of areas, including but not limited to, account reconciliations, external and management reporting analysis, business process improvement and more. You will work cross functionally within a detail-oriented environment where creative problem solving is highly valued.

Your day-to-day activities:

  • Mentor and train staff accountant
  • Maintain the general ledger
  • Assist with researching and resolving accounts receivable issues, including determining collectability concerns
  • Process and record payroll on a timely basis
  • Ensure timely recording and payment of vendor payables and liabilities
  • Prepare accurate month-end and quarter-end financial close activities and reconciliations within the required deadlines ensuring transactions are in accordance with GAAP, and that internal policies and procedures are followed
  • Assist in the preparation and tie out of financial statements and other financial documents and reports
  • Prepare standard operating procedures instructions
  • Assist in identifying risks and process gaps and developing and implementing solutions
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in accounting practices
  • Assist with audit fieldwork, quarterly VAT filings and cross functional teams by answering accounting-related data requests and questions
  • Ad hoc projects as needed

What you bring to the table

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or foreign degree equivalent
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Experience with NetSuite or equivalent ERP
  • Business fluency in German and English
  • Knowledge and experience with German GAAP and IFRS required
  • Experience in the corporate accounting function of a public company desired
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Highly developed attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude
